MomentumDesign discusses the relationship; design versus visual art, and focuses on the concept by presenting work that can be placed in an intersection between art and design. The definition of design has changed simultaneously as the concept of art has taken a new direction, and the exhibition examines the allegation that designers and visual artists are approaching each other’s fields and strategies, and how and why this is taking place.
The curators have assembled a large amount of artists and designers from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden and Norway. In addition, last year students from art and design academies in Norway and Sweden are presented to investigate to what extent these institutions are keeping tradition and are influencing the borderline between design and visual art.
The concept of design is used in many connotations, but still has a clear meaning, defined from context and in professional environments.

Hareide Design 10-year anniversary exhibition: In the Momentum art halls, White Cube, the renowned industrial design bureau Hareide Design, presents a 10- year anniversary exhibition. Participation in MomentumDesign gives Hareide Design a unique opportunity to show the importance of industrial design, the processes involved, and their customer´s products to a wide audience. Glimpses from 10 years of exciting work and inspiration will be shown through sketches, pictures, design work and a unique collaboration with visual artist Jenny Rydhagen.
